About Colee Hamock

The waterfront neighborhood of Colee Hammock in East Fort Lauderdale, Florida is highly sought after. A quick drive to the Fort Lauderdale Beach, a short drive to highways, as well as Downtown Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood International Airport, makes this upscale community attractive to residents with a passion for shopping and dining.

The luxury condos, townhomes and single-family homes for sale in Colee Hammock range in price from the $200,000s to the $600s. With its many Mediterranean-style architecture estate homes and large oak-lined streets, the neighborhood exudes old Florida charm. New River frontage is available on many residences.

He wanted to extend the Florida East Coast Railway straight along the coast ridge to Miami when he brought it to Fort Lauderdale in the late 1890s. However, Mary Brickell, who owned the land, refused to sell it, as that would have required him to pass through a beautiful oak hammock.

Flagler’s tracks headed west due to her influence. Her prediction was that this would become an attractive residential neighborhood one day. It was a good decision by Mary Brickell. A large portion of Colee Hammock was preserved by she, and today it is a stunning urban subdivision in Florida. There are ancient oak trees that make it look like a small town within a major city.

The Shepard Estate on Las Olas Boulevard, built in the 1920s, is one of the city’s most charming residences. In recent years, however, large, elegant homes have replaced older cottages, becoming Fort Lauderdale’s finest residences.

The neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale remains quiet and mostly tropical, and is within walking distance of the beach and close to these areas of Fort Lauderdale’s shopping and entertainment as well as Las Olas Boulevard, which crosses the neighborhood.

It is therefore conveniently located near the redeveloped business district of downtown. A major airport is just a 10-minute drive away. Young families and retirees enjoy its proximity to schools and churches.

Colee Hammock’s distinctive style attracts the attention of the entire community, and this has occasionally led to problems. But the community’s Homeowners Association has had outstanding leadership. Mary Brickell rerouted a railroad more than 100 years ago, prompting some of the city’s most outstanding citizens to take their places as officers. Residents have also supported the past officers who have fulfilled the duties they were assigned.
